THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses a majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions as well as child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate and estate administration along with commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and legal research.

Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters involving child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law - divorce, child support, custody and guardianships as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the commitment to provide an individual approach to each client's need.
