Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice focuses on various aspects of family matters. She focuses the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, property distribution in marital relationships, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills and probate and estate administration along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediation for those who want to stay clear of litigation and court processes.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This proved her dedication to scholarship and legal research.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the from their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned far beyond her legal profession and she was active as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking within the tri-state area.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law - divorce child support, custody, and guardianships - as well as estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the commitment to provide an individual approach to each client's need.
